| SAN MATEO INSPIRADO POR EL ÁNGEL | ST. MATTHEW INSPIRED BY THE ANGEL |
| Daniel Samoilovich | trans. Brian Cole |
|
An angel speaks into Matthew's ear who, old, bearded, pen in hand, stares into the void in front of him. The angel cannot be speaking Aramaic because then Matthew would not need to think: he would just copy what the angel dictated to him. The angel whispers meaningless phrases in whose dark celestial music the old man sometimes sees them jump, the fleeting fishes of his theme. |
